Surviving the Game

So - Here I am. My name is Viki. People who know me really well call me Viki. Those who I barely know also call me Viki. Even my husband calls me Viki. So - you pretty much can't go wrong. Just please - don't spell it with a C or a Y in it.

My dearest friend who also happens to be related to me through blood - started a blog titled "sweetspirited" - so I am basically making a spin off from hers and titling mine "sourspirited" as she is much sweeter than Iam. As far as the further explanation of her title - you'll have to check out her blog.

I basically have had a decent life - full of many blessings and many surprises. I am the mother of 5 and I mostly stay home (unless I can find an excuse to go out and not clean). I work part time as an RN at the local hospital where I get to take care of women of all ages - either after giving birth or going through surgery. I love my job. I love having a sweet husband who puts up with me and I love my kids dearly.

I am just trying to manage day by day and "survive" the game we call life. OK - so it's more of a test than a game - but I like to call it a game, just as I like to add some fun into everything I do. Let's just say that the word "serious" has rarely been used to describe me. =)

OVERHEARD

Emerson LOVES to play with the chickens - the other day he was chasing them around the backyard with a plastic fork with a piece of bark in it trying to feed them "Bite Bite" he would say as he poked the fork at their beaks!
At the indoor roller-rink the other day after Lane had fallen down about 2,00 times, he kept getting back up and trying it again. He went out with Maelynn and the disco ball was spinning. As he fell again, he looked up at her and excitedly said, "I just fell on a rainbow!"
While flipping through a little book Lane says to me, "You know what mom? I wanna make something." "Oh, yeah, what's that, Lane?" "Well, it is a special food that has fish and broccoli and donuts and red peppers in it!" "YUMMM!"
Lane was using the bathroom and while I was waiting for him he said, "Mom, did you know that Heavenly Father made this toilet for us?" I said, "Actually, it was made by a man for us to use." "He quickly replied, "Oh yeah. That's what I said. Like Dad or some other worker made it!"
Greg was bargaining with Lane in an attempt to motivate him to use the potty. Greg said, "Lane, I will pay you a quarter if you go pee in the potty, and 2 quarters if you go poo in the potty." Without skipping a beat, Lane responded, "And how much for a fart?"
Tonight I was asking the kids if they wanted me to make them grilled cheese sandwiches. Lane quickly told me, "Mom - I don't want a girl chese sandwich, I want a BOY chesse sandwich!"
Sadie says to me while sweeping up the kitchen floor: "Mom, I would absolutely HATE to be a little crumb. Because I would have to go in the stinky garbage bag and then live in the big stinky garbage can. I would NOT like that at all. I would NOT want to be a little crumb."
IT'S OFFICIAL... Lane inherited my "literal" bug. This morning he was being very grumpy so I said to him, "Lane, did you wake up on the wrong side of the bed?" To which he replied, "No Mom, I woke up IN my bed!"
