Sometimes you gotta just drive...

On Friday, our school was cancelled last minute due to a large number of sick students and staff at their school. Gotta love that swine flu!
After sitting at home most of the morning accomplishing the usual and mundane tasks of the day (well, at least the kids got theirs done - I didn't get all of mine done - never do). . . . we decided to be spontaneous and just jump in the car and drive. This is usually something that Greg loves to do - but, alas, he was at work - so it was just lone momma bear and the 6 cubs that went. We drove to Swan Valley (home of the famous square ice-cream cone, aka motivation to get kids to go) and then on to Irwin, Idaho (population negative 34 or something like that).
We drove down dirt roads following one dead-end or private property sign after another until we found a beautiful tranquil spot on the edge of the Snake River. We had a blast doing our own little informal photo shoot and just admiring the fall foliage and frigid water flow of the river. Here are a few shots from the day.

Hope you are all enjoying the season as much as we are!

So fun that you just go do your thing. I love the pictures and the new blog layout. Minus the picture of Miles in a tick infested tree stump. Miss you lately. If I don't talk or see you everyday it sucks. Can't wait for you to be my neighbor.

Aw the square ice cream. We got lured into buying some too when we passed the sign on the way to your house from Jackson Hole. Cute kids. Miles is getting so big!
